About Us
College is Cool is a 501c3 Non profit organization founded in 2008 by syndicated radio host turned media executive Angela “Angie Ange” Hailstorks in the DC Metropolitan area. College Is Cool began with programming throughout DC metro area schools utilizing the arts to emphasize college prep and career exposure for students. College Is Cool now focuses on student advocacy for first generation and current college students in need of guidance and preparation along their collegiate path, and fundraises to help keep students in college up to their graduation date.

The Founder
Angela “Angie Ange” Hailstorks
Angela “Angie Ange” Hailstorks has been a Pilar in the DC Metropolitan community for over 20 years. Growing up in Prince George’s County, MD, Angie was first exposed to the radio/tv world while in high school where she did morning announcements on the student television station. Upon graduation, Ange took her talents to Howard University where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and received her bachelor’s degree in 2006. Upon graduation, Angie’s radio career took off after being hired to do the night show in 2007 at 93.9 WKYS— a Radio One station in Washington, DC.
Knowing that her show was primarily focused on youth 12-18, in 2008 Angie founded College Is Cool Inc to expose youth to the amazing experience she had while at Howard.
After many programming initiatives, and events, Angie began fundraising to help students in jeopardy of being kicked out of school because of small balances they could not afford. She created the “last dollar scholar” award and the “Charlie Wilson Scholarship” in honor of her late grandfather who passed away from Alzheimer’s.
After a 15 year career at Radio One, Angie chose to move from talent to power and left the radio industry to become a media executive in the television and film industry. Ange currently serves as Director of Content for WHUT- Howard University Television PBS and is the the founder of 38Madison Media—a digital media management and production agency.

This vision of College Is Cool is to guide students from enrollment to graduation as an extended layer of support throughout their collegiate experience.
Mission
College Is Cool’s mission is to provide financial support and planning for students so that they don’t get caught in the debt trap that many struggle in today. With resources and advocacy, CIC provides options to keep students enrolled and advancing towards obtaining their degrees.
